Amazing article on the pathetic situation of medical education in India. When I lived in pondicherry, JIPMER was the only medical institution and I hear that several others have sprouted all over this town in the recent past producing substandard professionals. I strongly feel that the government should mandate that practicing doctors should indicate where they obtained their degree. Even if it is from a reputable institution, they should make it public whether they made it through an "Open General" or any kind of "Reservation" conditions. Then leave the rest to the general public to chose their doctors.
Interesting article, in any case.
