Anti-proliferative effect of valproic acid was tested in combination with PI3K-AKT inhibitor LY294002 on A375 cells using ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine incorporation assay. Valproic acid (2 mM) significantly (P < 0.05) reduced proliferation of A375 cells while cell proliferation is unaffected with LY294002 (2μM). However, a combination of valproic acid (2 mM) and LY294002 (2μM) showed enhanced (P < 0.01) antiproliferative effects on A375 cells
