Journal Policies
The Journal of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapeutics (JPP) is published by Sage in association with Phcog.Net. The journal follows Sage's publication ethics policies, which are aligned with the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).
Peer review
JPP operates double-anonymized peer review. Original articles, review articles, reprint articles and case reports are peer reviewed.
Originality
Submission of a manuscript implies that the work has not been published before and is not under consideration by another journal.
Ethics approval and consent
Manuscripts must include an ethics approval statement under its own heading, even if approval is also mentioned in the Methods section. If ethics approval was not required, this must be stated explicitly.
Funding, conflicts of interest and use of AI
All sources of funding and any conflicts of interest must be declared at submission. Any use of artificial intelligence tools in preparing the work must be disclosed.
Authorship and ORCID
The author details entered in the submission system, including names, affiliations and the corresponding author's contact details, must exactly match those on the manuscript and/or title page. Authors are encouraged to link their ORCID iD before acceptance; it can only appear on the published article if it was linked beforehand.
Preprints
If a manuscript has been posted as a preprint, authors should give the preprint's DOI at submission.
Open access and licensing
JPP is a gold open access journal. Articles are freely accessible online in perpetuity under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International licence (CC BY-NC 4.0), which lets anyone share and adapt the work for non-commercial purposes with appropriate credit. After acceptance, authors receive instructions by email to complete the open access process, including signing the licence.
Article processing charge
There is no charge for submitting a manuscript. A one-time article processing charge (APC) is payable by the author, their institution or funder once a manuscript has been accepted after peer review, before it is published: INR 30,000 plus 18% GST for authors in India, and USD 800 plus taxes for the rest of the world.
Corrections and retractions
If a published article is found to fall short of these standards, it is corrected or retracted according to Sage's corrections and retractions policies.
The complete and current policies are set out in the Sage submission guidelines for JPP.
